Training Etiquette
Roller Derby Rule #1: Don’t be a Douchebag!
Be respectful and tolerant of other skaters and officials. We are all from diverse backgrounds and lifestyles.
You do not have to tolerate another skater or coach treating you in a way that is degrading and disrespectful, this includes being sworn at or physically intimidated.
Listen when coaches are talking. You will have time to chat to your friends before and after training. Coaches are giving their time and energy to help you be a great skater.
Don’t behave in a way that is reckless and a danger to yourself or other skaters.
If you spill something on the floor clean it up. If you notice something that is a potential hazard to skaters either do something about it or tell your co-ordinator or coach.
Attempt to do everything that is asked of you. If we can see that you are trying your best at a new skill or drill but haven’t quiet mastered it yet, we will do everything we can to help you but you need to be the one to put the effort in.
If you are injured, tell your coach or co-ordinator at the beginning of the session or as soon as the injury occurs. Sit out of drills that will cause further injury but consider doing an activity off to the side that you can do comfortably eg, squats, situps, push ups, leg lifts. If you have a medical condition please let us know ASAP.
If you have any problems or questions please see your co-ordinator or a coach, we will endeavour to help you as much as possible.
